Enroll in Kindle Unlimited You'd think having your books available on every possible platform would be your best chance at making more money... But Amazon has changed the game with Kindle Unlimited. I started out publishing wide, with my book available on Nook, Google, Apple, and Kobo as well, but that was a HUGE mistake. Firstly, Amazon rewards books that are in the Kindle Unlimited program. Whenever someone checks your book out and reads on Kindle Unlimited, your title gets a boost on the charts. As if that advantage isn't cool enough, Amazon pays you for every page read by readers in the program. But Brittni, how is a fraction of a cent per page going to make a difference? Cowriting this was a joy. We each took a character and wrote a chapter before passing it back. I remember being so excited to jump in and read Charlee's newest chapter. We'd discuss the basics of how we wanted the story to go, but a lot of it came as a surprise as we went. There were two imaginations involved--two wells of inspiration that we swam in and this book was the result. It only really took us about two weeks to write because we were so excited. Editing was much more difficult. Partially because every edit had to be checked with the other person and partially because there was a long gap between us finishing the first draft and editing, so we lost a bit of enthusiasm. What makes this story special is that it sparkles with the chemistry that me and Charlee share. Our friendship dazzles from every character interaction because that's how we wrote it. This beautiful little stack of books was written by me. I can't believe it. Most of these books were written in the last 6 months. As an author, there's no moment when you feel like you've finally made it. There's just a lot of tiny milestones and if you don't take time to celebrate, you never will. It hasn't been something I've shared in the past but I had a difficult time learning to read and write. I fell behind in school, had shortened spelling tests, and despised English class more than any of my others. My mom tutored me tirelessly to catch me up. We were "Hooked on Phonics." My biggest reason for overcoming this obstacle was my mother. She never gave up on the lessons or taking me to the bookstore to help me find something that would be worth learning to read. In the fourth grade, my teacher read the class a novel called, The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles and it was the first time I fell in love with a book. But book report...

My first series is complete! It was a terrifying experience to write this book because I'd never attempted a series before this and I had no clue how to tie everything up at the end. I was thrilled to watch everything come together line by line and when it was finished, I was reasonably happy. It was only after the book went through my beta readers that I realized it needed one more chapter-- a moment of closure for one relationship in particular.  It ended up being my favorite chapter from any of the books. Needless to say, I'm very happy with it and look forward to laying this series to rest while I tackle a new one.
