Before I became one, I assumed it was a cushy job spent in luxurious cafés sipping coffee and slaying imaginary dragons. If that's true, why does every writer I know refer to the process as utter agony? It's not the patience or dedication to writing every day. It's not the hours spent in solitude or out of touch with reality. It's not even the lack of a steady paycheck. After careful reflection, I've nailed it down to the hardest part.
