Musings of a Book Launch

The book is done. The promotions are scheduled. Launch day has arrived.  I'm not sure what I thought this day would feel like. There were so many memorable days that led me to this book launch. The day I completed the first draft. The day I finished editing. The day the proof copy came in. The day I showed my dad the dedication. When I made my first sale. When my first review came in. When the first hardback book came in. When I got my first 1-star review. The day that Gooogle officially classified me as an author. In comparison, today feels sort of ordinary. The calm AFTER the storm. It feels like the end of something rather than the beginning.  Something unusual did happen this morning though. I received a message from a stranger saying that I am now her favorite author. My pre-orders were converted to sales.  My amazing mother threw me a book launch party.  I've spent every waking moment on book promotions and gathering book review...

Kingdom Cold Reviews

Here are some of my favorite Kingdom Cold reviews from some of the best bloggers from around the world. <3 "Somehow, I managed to count the major plot twists in the story. Yes! Twist with an 'S'" https://www.heykymmie.com/kingdom-cold-brittni-chenelle/ “KINGDOM COLD is Brittni Chenelle’s answer to ‘How to write something completely alive, fresh and filled with the unexpected!’” http://tometender.blogspot.com/2019/01/kingdom-cold-by-brittni-chenelle.html "Don't read this book. How To Get More Book Reviews 2019

Being an Indie Author is really hard. Traditionally published authors have pre-built reviewer teams, a budget for big review sites like NetGalley, and have a reputation for higher quality books. Many reviewers will only accept ARC’s (Advanced Reader Copies) of traditionally published books which limits us even further. However this year I decided to see if given enough time and effort, I could compete with the big guys. It turns out, I can. I hope I can save you some time with this list I’ve compiled. This list does not include any paid reviewers and all of them comply with Amazon’s policies. (Note: I am not sponsored by any of these companies and these are opinions I’ve formed through my own research.)These are in no specific order.  Free Review Companies 1. Reader’s Favorite This company offers one free review per book. It’s quick and easy to submit your book on here too. Why not? https://readersfavorite.com/ 2. BookSprout If you make a free account you can get up...

The HARDEST Part of Being an Author

I've heard it said that if you can be anything other than a writer-- do it.  But what's so hard about being a writer? Before I became one, I assumed it was a cushy job spent in luxurious cafés sipping coffee and slaying imaginary dragons. If that's true, why does every writer I know refer to the process as utter agony? It's not the patience or dedication to writing every day. It's not the hours spent in solitude or out of touch with reality. It's not even the lack of a steady paycheck. After careful reflection, I've nailed it down to the hardest part. The hardest part of being a writer is believing in yourself . At every stage of the process you find yourself face to face with this obstacle. You question whether you're good enough. You're scared to show anyone your book. You're crushed by every bad review. Not only are you not making any money, you're SPENDING money. Editing, cover design, advertising-- it all costs HUGE money with...
